This is a volunteer-run, non-commercial community project. We collect and process only the minimum personal data necessary for the basic operation of the Website. Use of the Website is at your own risk.

We collect only limited personal data that is voluntarily provided by users.

Newsletter subscriptions:

If you subscribe, we collect your email address, optional name, and subscription date. This data is used solely to send newsletters and updates. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Contact form:

If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry.

Comments:

If you leave a comment, we collect the name you provide, your email address (not publicly displayed), optional website URL, comment content, IP address, and timestamp. Comments are public. Do not include sensitive personal data in comments.

If you use Gravatar, your profile image may be displayed based on your email address. This is handled entirely by Gravatar (Automattic) and not by us.

Analytics:

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymised usage data, including pages visited, device type, browser type, approximate location, and referral source. This data does not directly identify individual users.

Some third-party services (including Google Analytics and Gravatar) may process data internationally. These providers implement their own safeguards under applicable data protection laws.

7. Data Retention

  • Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe.

  • Contact messages are retained only as long as necessary to respond.

  • Comments remain publicly available unless removal is requested. To request comment deletion, contact admin@ukrainians.wales with the article URL, your comment name, and the approximate date. We will respond within 30 days.

  • Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics default settings (currently 26 months).

8. Your Rights

Where required by mandatory applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or withdraw consent. Requests should be sent to admin@ukrainians.wales. We may require reasonable verification before acting on requests.

EU residents may lodge a complaint with their national data protection authority if they believe their data has been mishandled.

9. User-Generated Content

Comments are public and may be indexed by search engines. You are solely responsible for any content you submit.

Do not post in comments:

  • sensitive personal information

  • contact details (phone numbers or physical addresses)

  • information about minors

  • copyrighted material without permission

We reserve the right to moderate or remove comments at our discretion. We accept no liability for user-generated content.

10. Children

The Website is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
