stor1es.com/ is pleased to announce a creative and cultural event taking place in Caerphilly — a traditional Motanka Doll Workshop on Saturday, 5 July 2025, hosted at Caerphilly Library.

This family-friendly workshop will introduce participants to the ancient Ukrainian art of making motanka dolls — handcrafted, faceless figures that have long been used as talismans for protection, harmony, and wellbeing within the family.

What is a Motanka?

Motanka is a traditional Ukrainian handmade doll crafted without the use of needles — only fabric and thread, wrapped and tied by hand. Its faceless form holds deep symbolism: purity, protection from evil spirits, and sacred strength. Each doll carries a unique energy and purpose, often passed down through generations as a family charm.

What to Expect:

This free event offers more than just crafting — it’s an invitation to experience Ukrainian culture through a hands-on, meditative activity. Participants will enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, conversation, tea, and inspiration.

The workshop is open to both adults and children aged 6 and up. Please note: children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and cannot be left unsupervised during the event.
