Members of the Ukrainian community in Wales are organizing a charity climbing expedition to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike, to raise funds for medical aid boxes for Ukrainian frontline medical services.

Event Details

The challenging climb is scheduled for 28th June 2025, with participants meeting at Wasdale Head car park at 8:00 AM. The expedition is expected to last approximately 9 hours, with climbers tackling the moderate to hard difficulty route.

Organizers Oksana Mitsova, Dmytro Kovalsky, and Kateryna Mitsova plan to follow the Eskdale Route, covering 7 miles over an estimated 7-hour climbing period, though route adjustments may occur based on weather conditions.

Charitable Mission

The fundraising effort aims to provide essential medical aid boxes for Ukrainian frontline medical services. According to the organizers, the initiative addresses critical medical supply needs and has the potential to save lives on the frontlines.

“This is close to our hearts because we clearly understand the everyday needs in medical aid and we aim to save as many lives as possible,” the organizers stated.

Participation Opportunities

The event offers multiple ways for community members to contribute:

Community members can join the actual climb, combining personal challenge with charitable fundraising.

Those unable to participate physically can sponsor the climbers to help reach fundraising goals.

The organizers also encourage sharing the event to increase awareness and potential donations.

Preparation Requirements

Participants are advised to bring sturdy hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, sufficient water and snacks, and camera equipment to capture the mountain views. The organizers emphasize the importance of proper preparation and a positive attitude for the challenging ascent.

Continuing Efforts

This charity climb follows the community’s previous successful fundraising activities, including last year’s Snowdon climb supporting Ukraine. The organizing team has indicated plans for additional charitable events in the future.

Currently, 13 people have already signed up for the expedition, demonstrating strong community support for the initiative.
